In creative theatre, the students come up with the ideas, create the characters, write the script, compose the music, direct, produce, design - or any combination of those jobs! It’s all about collaboration, and the students decide where the teachers fill in the gaps.

If you love singing, dancing, and acting, you can be a performer - and if you’re not a fan of being on stage, you can work backstage!

Each term is tailored to the people involved, putting on a show as unique as each student.

In this intensive program, students will create an musical with the goal of producing a professional show. Collaborating to write a script and score that suits everyone involved, the focus will still be on creativity and process while working on something they can be proud of. Students can use the opportunity to hone their creative skills - writing, acting, singing, directing, dancing, choreographing, composing, costume design, set design, and production.

We’ll hone voice and text skills, work on physicality in a group setting, facial and vocal expression, emotional depth, and stage presence. Composing the music will help develop the students’ vocal abilities, as well as listening skills. Children will learn about different musical genres, chords, vocal styles, and rhythms. They’ll write their own lyrics in the voices of their characters, and advance the plot through the songs. In choreographing the show, students will get a good grasp of using space creativity, storytelling through movement, self-expression - all while developing their physicality and dance skills.

Winter term: $425 or pay what you can

Winter term + Spring term: $800 or pay what you can

Creative Music and Theatre with Claire will always have a pay-what-you-can option. Every student that participates is a valuable and important individual who not only deserves to enjoy and explore creative theatre, but someone we are thrilled to have in our group.

We also have a scholarship fund that anyone can contribute to!

Claire’s passion for musical theatre is infectious, and she can capture and hold the attention of all of the children in her group. She took the time to connect with all of the kids, even the quiet ones who wanted to work behind the scenes.

Claire not only helped me further my technical skills in theatre but also inspired me to fully embrace the way I show up on stage.
